Today I must report a setback in Gary’s treatment.  He is back in ICU.  It appears Gary is retaining too many fluids, and a stronger diuretic should solve the problem.  He is on a ventilator to assist his breathing, and to give him antibiotics in case they are wrong on the fluid retention and he has pneumonia.  If the retention fluid does not show improvement by tomorrow, dialysis is probably.  The doctor referred to this as “temporary” dialysis.  We read on the Web MD site doctors order dialysis one or two times with good success for the patient.  Dialysis does not have to be permanent.  On the more positive side, all of Gary’s vitals are strong.  Currently he is on no sedatives and doing well.  They expect to put him back on sedatives if pain returns, but a period of no sedatives will be helpful in flushing the fluids.  So everyone pray for a good flush!
